I have worked within the field of human services since 1984. This includes 10 years as a qualified social
worker working with individuals and families in distress, child
protection, elderly people, and mental health. I also worked with
profoundly deaf people. My interest was working with individuals and
their distress so I retrained and have worked since 1996 as a
Counsellor in Primary Care for the NHS, where I continue to work in GP
Additionally I run a
successful private practice which I started in 2004. In private
practice I see individuals for counselling and psychotherapy
additionally I supervise other Counsellors and Psychotherapists.
I am an Accredited Counsellor/Psychotherapist with The British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP).
I adhere to the strict Code of Ethics and Professional Practice of BACP.
My qualifications include a Combined Certificate in Counselling, and
Diploma in Counselling from the Central School of Counselling and
Therapy. These studies completed in 1998.
I hold a Professional Studies in Counselling Supervision at Graduate level from Leicester University completed in 2007.
am BACP Accredited Specialist Counselling for Depression therapist
under the Governments NICE initiative to Increase Access to
Psychological Services (IAPT), qualifying in 2009.
I qualified as a Counselling for Depression Supervisor from Nottingham University in 2013.
also hold a Bachelor of Science Honours Degree in Sociology and Applied
Social Studies and a Certificate of Qualification of Social Work from
Newcastle-upon Tyne Polytechnic (now the University of Northumbria)
I continue to engage extensively in training and study ensuring my continuing professional development.
